The Roma town of Bassianae is located on the Grad site, near the village of Donji Petrovci in Srem (Vojvodina).
The settlement was founded in 1st century, lasting until 6th century. In 124 A.D. the town obtained the status of a municipium, whereas the earliest mention of the town as colony dates from 214 A.D. In 1882 and 1935 there were some minor archaeological investigations, revealing the ramparts structures with the towers, floor mosaics, wall frescoes and sewage system.
